well, now that I've got this place relatively fixed up, i guess i can start what was going to be my original mission. of course it'll be a diary site like most other blogger things, but i also wanted to share my poetry with whoever stumbles across this place. so i may as well begin now... this is something i wrote on the way down to southern california while i was riding on amtrack.

headlights in the dark through the windows of a train
draw the curtains, mama, cause it's nearly time to sleep
draw the curtains, mama, cause the darkness is too deep
lamplight in the night until the morning comes again

hurtling towards freedom
towards the stretching night of freedom
and all i want's to stay here where i'm safe

tremors in the steel rail and the cabins rock and shake
what's the difference, mama, if the tunnel's cut too steep
what's the difference, mama, if we never go to sleep
mama, just you tell me that you'll be here when i wake

hurtling towards freedom
towards the dazzling dark of freedom
but all i want's to see your smiling face

next stop is the last one, though i thought it wouldn't come
wear the white robe, child, when you walk out on the grass
wear the white robe, child, though this moment is the last
one day you'll find me singing to the sun
